Ceremony Programs are Important!
Weddings can be expensive and everyone likes to save money when they can, but we at Liuna Station recommend not cutting the ceremony program out. That little program or poster board keeps the guests informed and on-time. It is one of your few lines of communication with everyone before the ceremony starts. Before the Bride arrives one of the most common questions we get asked is, “Where do we go after the ceremony?” This gives you a way to let your guests know if they need to be anywhere for photos, if they have some free time to wander, or if they can go right into the reception. This gives you the opportunity to let them know about cafes nearby, or if they can head into the dining room and enjoy an Antipasto bar or cocktail hour. There doesn’t have to be one on each chair or per person, even one per row or just a giant board somewhere showing the order and events to follow.
Important things to include on your program:
– The names of the Bride, Groom, Bridal Party, Officiant, parents of the Bride/Groom.
– The order in which they will come down the aisle; if applicable
– Tells you the order of events of the day, ceremony details, reception time and location
– Where guests are to go directly after the ceremony or directly to the hall; where photos will be, parks or places nearby, coffee shops, etc.
– Can commemorate lost ones or thank everyone on the reverse
– Can explain cultural traditions or rituals done in the ceremony
– Info/Facts about the Couple
– Why you chose the ceremony/venue space (if it has meaning to you)
– Thank guests
They don’t have to be fancy, they can be as fun or as serious as you want. To get your money’s worth out of them, we recommend your wedding programs serve multiple purposes. Attach your confetti to them, or make them your bonbonnieres and have ushers hand them out to guests as they arrive. Outdoor ceremony? Make them a fan for your guess should it be too hot! Have fun with them!
